ANSWERS TO LESSON 11

What Is My Relationship
to the World and Worldly Things?

It is essential that Christians live a separated and clean life. Once a man is saved, it is important for him to stay away from the wrong kind of friends and places. Although we want to win our friends to Christ, we cannot afford to harm our testimony by taking part in things that are not right. This matter of separation will either make you into a fine, holy Christian, or cause you to satisfy self and Satan and compromise your life before the world.

11.01 What are we taught to do? Romans 12:1
Present yourself a living sacrifice, holy (separate) acceptable unto God.

11.02 What are we taught not to do? Romans 12:2 Be not conformed to this world.

Read II Corinthians 6:14-18

11.03 We are not to be what? II Cor. 6:14
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers.

11.04 What is an unbeliever? Anyone who is unsaved.

11.05 What are the five opposites listed in II Corinthians 6:14-16? There is no middle ground.
               HOLY THINGS UNHOLY THINGS
         (1) Righteousness Unrighteousness
         (2) Light Darkness
         (3) Christ Belial
         (4) Believer Unbeliever
         (5) Temple of God Idols

11.06 Who is the temple of God? II Cor. 6:16 The Believer.

11.07 What does agreement mean? Fellowship / Doing things together / Worshiping together.

11.08 What did God say that he would do for those who are the temple of God?
          (a) I will dwell in them.
          (b) I will walk in them.
          (c) I will be their God.

11.09 We are to come out from what? II Cor. 6:17 From among them.

11.10 And be what? II Cor. 6:17 Separate.

11.11 What are we to do with the unclean thing or things? II Cor.6:17 Touch not the unclean thing.

11.12 What do you think the words "separate" and "touch" mean in this portion of Scripture?
Separate: Be holy as God is holy. Follow God and not man.
          Touch: No fellowship with.

11.13 What did God say we would be to Him if we would be separated from the world? II Cor. 6:18
His children - His sons and daughters.

11.14 According to II Corinthians 5:17, what are two things that happen to a person when he becomes
          a new creature in Christ?
	(1) Old things pass away. (2) All things are become new.

The reason for strict separation is found in II Corinthians 5:20.
From this verse answer the following questions:
11.15 Now we are what for Christ? We are ambassadors.

11.16 What does ambassador mean? An authorized representative or messenger.

11.17 In Whose stead are we beseeching men? In Christ stead.

11.18 What are we beseeching men to be? To be reconciled to God.
Reconcile: To restore to friendship and harmony.

	                       This is an important principle:
How can we beseech men to know God if they in turn cannot see God in us?
We must live a life that patterns God's Word.
11.19 Write in your own words the meaning of II Corinthians 3:3.
A picture is better than 1,000 words. What people see in our lives is more valuable than what we say.
How one lives reflects the spiritual condition of their heart.
We are either a walking example or a walking non-example of God's Word.

Read John Chapter 17 very carefully
and answer the next eight questions.

11.20 For whom is Jesus praying in John 17:9? Saved.

11.21 Where did Jesus say that we were? John 17:11 In the world.

11.22 What did He ask God to do for us in the world? John 17:11 Keep us.

11.23 What did Jesus ask God not to do for us? John 17:15 Take us out of the world. The world needs Light and Salt.

11.24 What did Jesus ask God to do for us? John 17:15 Keep them from the evil.
Pastor's Note: It is important to look carefully at the wording in John 17:15. It DOES NOT say, "Keep
them from evil." But to keep them from "the evil." From the evil one, Satan.

11.25 According to John Chapter 17, we may be in the world, but John 17:16 says that we are not of
           the world.

11.26 What is "truth"? John 17:17 Thy Word is truth.

11.27 What is Jesus doing to us in John 17:18? Sending us into the world.

11.28 If we are being sent into the world, what is the purpose of it?
Notice: Matthew 28:18-20, and write the answer in your own words.
Ye go and teach others about Christ. (Witnessing) Christ will go with us. (Follow me and I
will make you fishers of men). Ye watch and pray. This is what it means to me:
		Witness Personal
		About Relationship
		The All
		Christ of Year
		Heaven
11.29 In I Thessalonians 5:14-22, there are 14 things that we should do. What are they?
	(01) Warn them that are unruly.
	(02) Comfort the feebleminded (faint hearted).
	(03) Support the weak.
	(04) Be patient toward all men.
	(05) See that none render evil for evil unto any man.
	(06) Follow that which is good (among believers / all men)
	(07) Rejoice evermore.
	(08) Pray without ceasing.
	(09) In everything give thanks.
	(10) Quench not the Spirit.
	(11) Despise not prophesyings.
	(12) Prove all things. "Prove me" God says in Malachi 3:10.
	(13) Hold fast that which is good.
	(14) Abstain from all appearance of evil.

11.30 According to I Thess. 5:22, from how many evil appearances are we to abstain? All.
According to these past Scriptures,
we should be very careful
about
what we say,
where we go,
the way we dress, etc.
Because we represent Christ.
Read Galatians 2:20

11.31 Paul said he was what with Christ? Crucified.

11.32 Even though he was crucified, was he still living? Yes

11.33 Who was doing the living through Paul? Christ.

11.34 How did Paul live his life in the flesh? By the faith of the Son of God.

11.35 How or what did Christ do to prove that He lives in us?
He loved me and gave Himself (died) for me.

11.38 In your own words, what is a conqueror? One who gains mastery over or wins by overcoming
obstacles or opposition. A victorious one. Surly we have "Victory In Jesus."

11.39 Does this mean that Christ can conquer anything in our lives? Yes.

11.40 What does Phil. 4:13 mean? I can overcome temptations, bad habits, disobedience, etc. only with the help
of Christ. I can do nothing in my own power. I am too weak and will fail everytime.

Read II Corinthians 10:4-6

11.41 In II Cor. 10: 4, Paul said our weapons are not what? Not carnal. (Human strength).

11.42 But they are what? Mighty through God.

11.43 What can these mighty spiritual weapons do? Pull down strong holds. Pastor's Note: Bad habits have
strong holds on people. What is a habit? Something one does repeatedly. An addiction. But there is no
addition that Christ cannot free you of. When one things of additions, they think of drugs, drinking, sex,
smoking, pornography. But what about drinking coffee, not praying, not reading your Bible, and over eating?

11.44 According to II Cor.10:5, what will sin do in our lives?
Sin exalts self against the Word of God. We hear God's Word, but we do what pleases "self."

11.45 In our life, every "what" thought must be brought into "what"? The obedience of Christ.
11.46 According to II Cor. 10:6, when will we have a readiness to revenge all disobedience?
When our obedience to God is fulfilled.

11.47 In Phil. 4:13, we are told that we can do what? I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

11.48 In Gal. 5:19-21, what are the works of the flesh? There are seventeen.
Sexual Works of the flesh. (4)
		(1) Adultery.
		(2) Fornication.
		(3) Uncleanness.
		(4) Lasciviousness.

Religious Works of the Flesh (2)
		(1) Idolatry.
		(2) Witchcraft.

Social Works of the Flesh (11)
		(01) Hatred.
		(02) Variance.
		(03) Emulations.
		(04) Wrath.
		(05) Strife.
		(06) Seditions.
		(07) Heresies.
		(08) Envyings.
		(09) Murders.
		(10) Drunkenness.
		(11) Revilings.

Pastor's Note: Here are what some of these words mean. Variance: Indifferent, contrary to the rule,
not in harmony. Emulation: Envious rivalry, ambition to equal. Sedition: Incitement of resistance to or
insurrection against lawful authority. Envying: Painful or resentful awareness of an advantage enjoyed by
another joined with a desire to possess the same advantage. Reviling: To rebel.

11.49 Does this mean that when we get our eyes off Christ, we can do these things? Yes
Why? Because we follow the flesh and not the Spirit.

11.50 In Gal. 5:22-23, what is the fruit of the Spirit? (1 Fruit with 9 sections)
		(1) Love.
		(2) Joy.
		(3) Peace.
		(4) Longsuffering.
		(5) Gentleness.
		(6) Goodness.
		(7) Faith.
		(8) Meekness.
		(9) Temperance.

Pastor's Note: Here are what some of these words mean. Meekness: Enduring injury with patience
and without resentment. Temperance: Moderation in action, thought, or feeling.

11.51 What is the sign that we are Christ's? Gal. 5:24 We have crucified the flesh.

11.52 What two things are we told to do in Romans 13:14?
	(1) Walk honestly. (2) Put on the Lord Jesus Christ.

11.53 In Timothy 2:9, in what kind of apparel should a woman adorn herself?
Modest apparel. Ladies, "What is modest apparel"?

11.54 According to Deut. 22:5, what are men and women instructed not to do?
The women shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on women's garment:

11.55 What does I Cor. 11:14 teach us about man's hair? Long hair is a shame unto him.

11.56 According to I Cor. 3:16 and II Cor 6:16, what is the believer's body?
It is the Temple of God. the Temple of the living God.

11.57 According to I Cor. 3:17, what are we not to do with the temple? Defile it.

11.58 In Romans 7:18, what did Paul say about his flesh? No good dwelleth in the flesh.

11.59 Because of the weakness of the flesh, what did Paul say about himself? Romans 7:18-25.
He sins. Flesh serves the law of sin. The Believer has two natures: The Flesh or Sin nature and
The Spirit nature directed by the Holy Spirit. We sin when we chose the Flesh nature and the
Flesh nature brings about even more sin.

11.60 According to Romans 7:25, who delivered Paul from the death of Romans 7:24?
           God through Jesus Christ.

11.61 If a Christian is going to be success for the Lord, he must recognize his own enemy. According to
Gal. 5:17, what is it? Flesh.

11.62 In Galatians 5:16, what will happen if we walk in the Spirit? Ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

CONCLUSION:
Worldly separation is obeying the commandments of Christ. Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commandments."
	Each time we demonstrate
		The right attitude
		The right action
		The right appearance
we prove that we love our Saviour.
Not only are we to separate ourselves from the world,
We are to separate ourselves from those who call themselves Christians and are not,
We are to separate ourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly.
