Count Your Many Blessings
Name Them One by One

In these days, when everything is rush here and rush there, we need to stop, look around, and give thanks. We need to give thinks for the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the change in colors we can see. The freedom to go where we please within our country without approval of any paperwork to grant such privilege. The safety to walk the streets of our city. The assurance we can call for help and know help will come.

Thank a teacher you can read. Be thankful to the mailman or paperboy for their faithful deliveries in all kinds of weather. Don't forget the volunteers who serve us on the fire department, at the hospital, at the nursing homes, from our churches and civic organizations.

Learning to give thanks is one of the first instructions parents usually teach their children. Mother would say, "Now what do you say?" The reply would be, "Thanks." Thanks for the birthday gift, the Christmas gift, the treat from the neighbor, the cookie from Grandma.

Sadly to say, most of these thanks are not given because we don't take time to do so. We need to be thankful more than once a year. We should be thankful every day. There is a real joy in our heart when we count our many blessings and name them one by one. Give it a try. It works.
