I. The New Jerusalem is not the Bride nor Wife, but the abode of the Church Age believers.
In fact, all believers will be there.
II. In the description of the New Jerusalem, the number 12 is very prominent:
12 Gates, 12 Angels, 12 Tribes of Israel 21:12
12 Foundations 21:14
12 Apostles 21:14
12 Pearls 21:21
12 Kinds of Fruit 22:2
12 12,000 Furlongs 21:16
12 times 12 Cubits 21:17
III. A furlong is how long? (A fur piece?)
A. 582 feet.
B. 12,000 furlongs equal 1342 miles.
Note:
It is that same measurement on all four sides - like a cube.
The distance from Toledo, OH to Miami Beach, FL
(This pastor's birth place) is 1341 miles.
It would take approx. 21 hours and 10 minutes to drive along one side
and 84 hours and 40 minutes to drive around it (a little over 3 1/2 days)
But remember: you won't have a car.
IV. Is a cubit longer or shorter than a furlong? Shorter
A. 1 cubit equals 18 inches.
B. 144 cubits equal 216 feet.
V. Pure gold is transparent (like clear glass).
Other colors are:
(1) Jasper clear as crystal
(2) Sapphire blue
(3) Chalcedony sky blue
(4) Emerald bright green
(5) Sardonyx red and white
(6) Sardius reddish
(7) Chrysolite golden color
(8) Beryl sea-green
(9) Topaz yellow-green
(10) Chrysoprasus green
(11) Jacinth violet
(12) Amethyst purple
Note:
There are 12 foundations each of a different color.
These same 12 colors are 12 stones found on the breastplate of the high priest.
